Fertility Awareness for Women’s Health connects the science of endocrinology to core concepts of FABMs and describes how these methods may be used to diagnose and manage common women’s health conditions. Students will learn about evidence-based FABMs, including ways they assist the diagnosis and treatment of conditions like premenstrual syndrome (PMS), polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), endometriosis, abnormal uterine bleeding, and infertility. Students will participate in live online lectures and view recorded modules to develop a deeper understanding of the applications of FABMs throughout a woman’s reproductive life span. Following each module, students will complete a brief knowledge assessment. They will also participate in live, online case discussions with medical experts who will share patient cases to illustrate key teaching points.

Through live and asynchronous online lectures, live case study discussions and readings, students will explore the broad applications of modern Fertility Awareness Based Methods (FABMs), including their role in pregnancy prevention, infertility, and women’s health. The course is divided into 2 parts: Part A will focus on the application of evidence-based FABMs for family planning, whether a couple’s goal is to achieve or prevent pregnancy. Part B will connect the science of endocrinology to core concepts of FABMs to illustrate how these methods can be used as part of a holistic approach to restorative reproductive women’s health care.

Over a 2 to 4 week period, teaching is provided via (1) online presentations that introduce students to each fertility awareness-based method (FABM), (2) clinical and case study discussion sessions with FABM-trained physicians and other medical professionals who integrate these methods into practice, and (3) sessions with educators who teach these methods. There are also required readings, online quizzes, two written assignments, and a final exam.

Materials are only available to enrolled students. Learn more by visiting this link.
