This medical elective is FACTS’ flagship offering, role in restorative reproductive women’s health, as well as students in other health professions, an overview of Fertility Awareness-Based Methods (FABMs), the evidence for their effectiveness for family planning, and their role in women’s health.

The course is primarily online and offered over a four-week block, divided into two parts. Students may choose to take the full four-week elective or enroll for either Part A or Part B, each lasting two weeks. Although Parts A and B can be taken at different times, students who take the full four-week elective (Parts A and B) consecutively will save $50.
FABMs for Family Planning introduces each of the modern evidence-based FABMs, how they work, and the studies showing their effectiveness to prevent and achieve pregnancy.
Fertility Awareness for Women’s Health connects the science of endocrinology to core concepts of FABMs and describes how these methods may be used to diagnose and manage common women’s health conditions.
Each part of this course includes synchronous and asynchronous learning opportunities, clinical experiences and case study discussions, as well as effective assessments to provide students with hands-on knowledge and experience with modern evidence-based FABMs.
The Student Elective is accredited through Georgetown University School of Medicine. Each part consists of 40-50 hours of coursework, or 80-100 hours for Parts A and B.
