Fertility Appreciation Collaborative to Teach The Science

Evidence-Based Fertility Education

Who We Are

FACTS stands as a leader in the field of fertility awareness and reproductive health education.

FACTS About Fertility provides medical professionals with evidence-based information so they may empower individuals and couples to better understand and care for their reproductive health. With continuing medical education opportunities and the latest medical research, FACTS helps medical professionals make informed decisions with confidence.

FACTS is a collaborative effort dedicated to educating medical professionals, students, and the public about the science supporting fertility awareness-based methods (FABMs). We recognize that the female cycle serves as the fifth vital sign that women can learn to monitor through charting. Trained clinicians can then use the chart to aid in the diagnosis and management of a wide range of women’s health concerns.

By bridging the gap in medical education, we equip medical professionals to address the root causes of hormonal health issues with the ultimate goal of restoring normal reproductive function. Our team includes physicians, allied healthcare professionals, fertility educators, and researchers working to bridge the gap in medical education.

Whether you are a medical professional, student, or simply someone seeking to understand your body better, FACTS is here to support informed, holistic care.

Our Mission

We educate current and future medical professionals about the evidence supporting fertility awareness-based methods (FABMs) and their clinical applications to restore reproductive and overall health – equipping them to deliver medical care that empowers patients and respects each person.

Our Vision

We envision a medical culture in which fertility is recognized as a vital sign of health and every community has a physician-led team trained in restorative reproductive medicine.

Core Values

Our values define how FACTS operates – internally as a team and externally through training, outreach, and clinical engagement.

Statement of Principles

FACTS has developed a statement of principles that outlines our view of fertility and the role of fertility awareness-based methods for family planning and reproductive health monitoring.

Principles of Respectful Dialogue

FACTS and its members and participants practice Principles of Respectful dialogue as ways to encourage dialogue and develop trust and mutual understanding.

Our History

FACTS was founded in 2010 by two family physicians, Dr. Marguerite Duane and Dr. Bob Motley, in order to help share evidence-based information about fertility awareness-based methods (FABMs) amongst their medical colleagues. They shared the same vision that modern FABMs could be better accepted in medical education if healthcare professionals were presented with the scientific evidence behind them.

Over the past 60 years, significant innovations have been made in women’s healthcare, particularly within the realm of reproductive science. Parallel to these advances, natural methods for monitoring fertility have been standardized and refined. This has led to more effective tracking of women’s cycles and the times of fertility. These methods can be used to achieve or postpone pregnancy, and in some cases, to address underlying gynecological concerns in ways that cooperate with or restore the normal physiology and anatomy of the human reproductive system. These treatments do not use approaches that are inherently suppressive, circumventive, or destructive and provide opportunities for reproductive healthcare that respects a patient’s right to understand and cooperatively manage their own fertility, with appropriate medical assistance.

Despite advances in the science of fertility awareness-based methods, and increasing interest among women in using them, the overwhelming majority of physicians, healthcare professionals, and students are not familiar or knowledgeable about them.

In response to this, FACTS is committed to educating medical students and professionals about the female cycle and ways women can monitor their cycle for family planning and health maintenance. Our organization offers a comprehensive array of educational resources designed to equip healthcare professionals with the necessary skills to integrate FABMs into their practice. These include student and resident electives, online continuing medical education courses, webinars, in-person and virtual conferences, research library, blog, and a directory of physicians and clinicians trained in FABMs.

We invite physicians, students, and all healthcare professionals to explore our offerings and support our educational mission.
