FACTS About Fertility Conference

Friday, October 13th, 8am-noon

FACTS about Fertility will inform attendees about opportunities to expand their knowledge of the science of tracking the female cycle and its role in restoring reproductive health and family planning. The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists recognizes the menstrual cycle as the fifth vital sign.

As such, this session will demonstrate how the cycle chart can aid in monitoring women’s health, as well as its use in the diagnosis and management of common women’s health concerns. FACTS leaders will equip colleagues with patient education resources, including an evidence-based shared decision-making tool that medical professionals may use to provide information to patients on these methods.

We will also update participants on ACA coverage for fertility awareness-based methods (FABMs) and discuss how these methods may be implemented in Title X clinics. The session will conclude with a presentation by student and resident ambassadors, who will share about the opportunity to participate in research, present at conferences and discuss the impact of the program on their professional development.

Upon completion of this session, participants should be able to:

Z

Counsel patients about modern, evidence based FABMs, sharing information on their underlying research, effectiveness rates, and challenges of use.

Z

Use FABMs to diagnose and manage common women’s health conditions, including abnormal uterine bleeding, endometriosis, polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), and premenstrual syndrome (PMS).

Z

Use a functional medicine approach to common female health conditions to find the root cause of symptoms and work toward their alleviation.
