A Medical Update on FABMS: For Physicians

Did you know, only 3% to 6% of physicians have accurate knowledge about the effectiveness rates of fertility awareness based methods (FABMs) of family planning. Unfortunately, there is a dearth of educational opportunities for physicians, students and other health care professionals to learn about how these methods work, their effectiveness for family planning and the positive impact they may have on a woman’s health. As a result, most clinicians are not prepared to provide accurate, up to date, evidence based information that would enable patients to make more informed choices about these options for family planning and health monitoring. With FACTS, we aim to change that – our goal is to #ShareTheFacts about #FABMs, so our colleagues can educate and empower women and engage men in the care of their fertility.

To do that, we have developed a number of resources designed to inform our health care colleagues about the versatility of FABMs and the best evidence available for their use in family planning. Most recently, we collaborated with Natural Womanhood to develop a downloadable informational brochure entitled: Medical Update on Fertility Awareness Based Methods, available for download here.

Please peruse this website for more information, including our extensive research section.

We hope you will share this brochure with physicians, nurses and other health care professionals in your community.
